Gisenyi to Kigali - August 4th

Short: Breakfast and errands, Drive to Kilgali, Meet up with friends from Boston


Long: Despite some strong thunderstorms overnight, we managed to sleep pretty well last night. After collecting my laundry we headed back to the Stepp Hotel this morning and had brunch. We also used their free wifi, again, and managed to catch up on a few emails. The drive back to Kilgali was completely uneventful and we arrived in the early afternoon. Once back we called Neil and Edward, two friends of ours from school who are currently working in Kigali for the British Conservative party. They allowed us to stay at their apartment overnight and we met Neil at the apartment in the late afternoon. We have had a lot of random encounters on our trip, but meeting Neil and Edward in Kigali is probably up there with the best of them. After a drink at a nearby hotel we met Neil, Edward, and others from the “British contingent” for a wonderful, although expensive, dinner.
